Lazy Puffin Lodge is a remote lodge located on Ugak Bay on Kodiak Island, Alaska. We host fishing trips, DIY Sitka blacktail deer hunts, bird-watching experiences, and small-group retreats for guests who want to be involved in the experience, not just observe it.
This is a hands-on, educational lodge where your group is the only group on site. Each day is shaped by weather, tides, wildlife, and the goals of your trip.

Most guests come to Lazy Puffin Lodge for one of three reasons. Start with the experience that fits your goals.
From single-day outings to multi-day lodge packages, our trips focus on hands-on learning and time on the water.
Our hunts are fully self-directed. We provide transportation, lodging, meals, and coordination—the hunt itself is yours.
Faith-based men’s retreats and rite-of-passage trips focused on reflection, challenge, and connection through wilderness immersion, fishing, hiking, and time together.
Small and private groups only
Fishing, shoreline hikes, quiet reflection

Most trips include lodging, meals, fishing gear, tackle, bait, snacks, and transportation during your stay. Guests are responsible for licenses, travel to Kodiak, and personal gear such as rainwear and waders.
We focus on clarity and preparation so there are no surprises
when you arrive.
Lazy Puffin Lodge hosts one group at a time. There are no shared trips or rotating guests. The lodge is reserved exclusively for your group of friends, family, or retreat participants.
Rite of Passage trips at Lazy Puffin Lodge are intentionally designed to remove distractions and place participants in a setting where effort, responsibility, and reflection matter. Set on the remote shores of Ugak Bay, these experiences use Alaska’s wilderness as the backdrop for growth and connection.
Lazy Puffin Lodge is not a luxury resort or a scripted experience. It’s a place to learn, participate, and experience Alaska as it really is.
Whether you’re fishing a strong sockeye run at Saltery Creek, hiking remote ridges during a DIY hunt on Kodiak Island, watching puffins from the shoreline, or sharing stories after dinner, the goal is the same: leave with real knowledge, meaningful memories, and a deeper connection to the place.
If you’re ready to plan a fishing trip, hunting experience, or retreat on Kodiak Island, the next step is choosing your dates and availability.
