Every Lazy Puffin trip includes the same core experience: round-trip floatplane between Kodiak and the lodge area, lodging, home-cooked meals, and Mike on the boat. The only choice you make is who else is at the lodge.
Standard / Shared Lodge is for solo travelers, couples, and parties of three. You reserve space on selected shared dates at the standard per-person rate. Trips run once 4 guests are confirmed. A refundable hold deposit keeps your spot while we pair compatible guests, and the trip is confirmed in writing when the minimum is met.
Private Lodge is for groups of 4 to 6 (up to 8 on hunts) who want the lodge, the boat, and the daily schedule to themselves. Smaller groups can request a private quote based on the four-person minimum.
Fly-in fishing on Ugak Bay for halibut, salmon, lingcod, and rockfish, with a Saltery Creek river day on request. Rates are per person.

Book a Private Lodge HuntCast & Blast, August 1 to September 15: use up to two of your six activity days for ocean or river fishing, weather and regulations permitting. Hunts beginning September 16 or later are hunting-only, run through December 31, and must be booked directly with Mike rather than online.
Fishing packages and DIY hunt packages both include:

Not included: commercial airfare to Kodiak, hotel nights and meals in Kodiak before or after the trip, fishing and hunting licenses, harvest tickets, tags, stamps, and permits, the daily federal halibut charter stamp, firearms, ammunition, optics, and personal gear, alcohol, gratuities, airline baggage, fish or game shipping, taxidermy, travel insurance, and any costs from weather delays.
The same policy applies to fishing packages, DIY hunts, and Cast & Blast trips:
A 50% deposit secures your dates. Your trip is confirmed once we receive it and confirm in writing
Deposits are not refunded as cash but are 100% transferable to another approved Lazy Puffin trip, subject to availability and any rate difference
The remaining balance is due 60 days before arrival and is non-refundable once paid
Pay by check to avoid online booking and credit card processing fees
Shared-lodge hold deposits are subject to the 4-guest minimum, group pairing, and final written confirmation
Hunts beginning after September 15 cannot be booked online. Book directly with Mike
Weather delays are part of remote Alaska travel and do not create refunds, credits, or price reductions
Travel insurance, medical coverage, and emergency evacuation coverage are strongly recommended
